20 So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!”
2 Corinthians 5:20 (NLT)
Here in this second letter to the church at Corinth, Paul was communicating to the church the role of the Believer; an Ambassador of God.
The Dictionary defines an Ambassador as:
An authorized messenger or representative.
We are God’s messengers and representatives!
How are we doing with this?
How would you say Believers are doing with this ROLE as messengers and representatives for God?
Here are 3 Things we need to know about our responsibility as Ambassadors.
11 Because we understand our fearful responsibility to the Lord, we work hard to persuade others
1. We work hard to persuade others that Jesus died for them!
God has trusted us to preach the Gospel; to persuade others about what Jesus did for us at the Cross.
14 Either way, Christ’s love controls us. Since we believe that Christ died for all, we also believe that we have all died to our old life. 15 He died for everyone so that those who receive his new life will no longer live for themselves. Instead, they will live for Christ, who died and was raised for them.
2. We work hard to persuade others that they can have a new life!
God has a better plan for them.
3. We work hard to persuade others that they can be made right with God through Christ!
"Lord, we know that we have a responsibility to be Your messengers. You have trusted us to be Your voice.
God, I believe we need to revisit our role as believers. Revisit our methods and ways of displaying our lives as your representatives.
Forgive us for not always carrying out our responsibilities. Help us in our weaknesses and give us strength and power to fulfill Your plan. We love You and want to do Your will.
In Jesus name, Amen. "
