For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile Romans 1:16 (NLT)
The Apostle Paul is writing to the church in Rome, encouraging them to stay strong in their Faith.
He wants to be with them in person, but has been hindered. He wants to pour into them the knowledge that comes from knowing Christ and to see the spiritual fruit that manifest when a believer grows strong in the things of the Lord.
He is eager to preach the Good News about Christ. Paul understands that there is a benefit to this Good News and he wants everyone to hear, receive it, embrace it, and tell others about it.
The Good News is the Gospel of Jesus Christ; the death, burial,
and ressurrection. It is the Power of Life!
The Good News is the Gospel of Jesus Christ; the death, the burial, and the resurrection. It is the Power of Life!
3 Things about the Power of Life.
1. The Power of Life is the Good News.
What is this Good News that Paul is referring to?
The Old English version refers to the Good News as the Gospel of Christ!
The Gospel of Christ (Good News) is simply:
Of Jesus Christ!
The Good News is what has given us eternal LIFE.
It is because of His death; however, there had to be more than just suffering and dying.
Every other god died as well, but, the thing that makes our God different is the RESURRECTION. He came back to life. He is ALIVE!
He lives so you and I can have LIFE!
The Power of Life is the Good News!
Second thing about the Power of Life.
This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life.” Romans 1:17 (NKJV)
2. The Power of Life is accomplished by faith!
The Power of Life cannot be accomplished by anything that we can do on our own.
For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV)
God chases us first! Then, by faith we make our move toward God and by God’s grace and our faith connecting…….Result = The Power of Life
"Faith is the gaze of a soul upon a saving God."
- A.W. Tozer
Third thing about the Power of Life:
3. When the Power of Life is on our mind, it will be on the tip of our tongue!
For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ.
Romans 1:16 (NLT)
As believers, we should never be ashamed to announce that Jesus died, He was buried, and He came alive on that third day.
I love to see new Christians right after they have received Christ as their Savior; YOU CAN’T KEEP THEM QUITE ABOUT IT!
There has never been a greater gift to humanity than the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
In our society today, many try to make Christians feel inferior to other forms of beliefs and many Christians try to tip-toe, so-to-speak, around this idea that Jesus is the only way to Heaven.
The fact is, Jesus is the only Way to God the Father.
Jesus said it Himself:
Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me.’ John 14:6 (NLT)
I read a story of an atheist who had a friend that was a Christian. They did not see eye-to-eye on the topic of God, so neither spoke of it.
One day the atheist was thinking about what the Christian believed concerning Jesus Christ and what Christ had offered to humanity. He was contemplating this idea of the Christian thought concerning the Good News and what benefit a Christian believes they acquire because of this “Good News.”
The atheist got upset with his friend. He approached him and asks him this question. “You say you are my friend. How much do you hate me?” The friend was confused. “Why do you ask such a question?”
The atheist said, “If you really believe that Jesus Christ died for you, was buried and came back to life and offers you a place in Heaven where you will be with Him forever and ever; a place without sickness or death; a place of eternal happiness with no more pain. How much do you hate me that you would not tell me about Him?”
This is very sobering!
Listen, God sent His only Son to give us Power over eternal Death. He did that through the cross. Jesus did die, He was buried, and He resurrected and is alive and seated at the right hand of Father God.
The gift of Salvation is for everyone who believes and confesses that Jesus Christ is Lord.
It is not something to be ashamed of; it is a gift to be announced to the whole world.
When the Power of Life is on our mind, it will be on the tip of our tongue!
“God, thank You for sending Your Son to suffer and die as a criminal. We don’t deserve it and sometimes we act in ways like we don’t believe or we don’t care.
God, I pray that everyone hearing this or reading this today will come alive in their faith. I pray that we as believers become vocal about what You have done for us and tell the world. May we never be ashamed of the Good News.
Help us stay strong in these tough times while we remain faithful. Teach us to love You just the way You first loved us. Put people in our path daily to speak the Good News boldly.
The Gospel is truly our Power for Life! God forgive us if we have neglected to spread this Good News. May we never neglect an opportunity to tell people about Your Son, Jesus Christ.
Thank you for loving us. Amen
